ANRA Environmental Laboratory Performing Drinking Water Testing Following Hurricane Harvey

In anticipation of Hurricane Harvey, the Angelina and Neches River Authority Environmental Laboratory is extending its hours for the testing of drinking water samples. Following landfall of Hurricane Harvey, many public water systems may find themselves without power and may have an immediate need for bacteriological testing in order to lift mandatory boil water notices. The ANRA Environmental Laboratory is accredited by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) for the bacteriological examination of drinking water samples for Total Coliform and E. coli bacteria.

Normal hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM. However, while dealing with the recovery from the hurricane, ANRA will be extending its hours and days of operations as necessary to accommodate any emergency sampling that may be required. Any public water system that is in need of emergency laboratory testing of potable water samples can contact the ANRA Environmental Laboratory at (936) 632-7795 during business hours to make arrangements. After hours and on weekends, please call (877) 420-9075 and someone from the laboratory will respond back to you to make arrangements.

Laboratory testing services are also available for individuals with private wells. Anyone with a private well that may have been infiltrated by storm water is encouraged to disinfect their well and have it tested for the presence of harmful coliform bacteria before consuming the water.
